Fear and Lies
Keith Olberman started out as a sportscaster, but has turned into a new Edward Murrow.
We have lived… as people in fear.
And now — our rights and our freedoms in peril — we slowly awake to learn that we have been afraid… of the wrong thing.
Therefore, tonight, have we truly become, the inheritors of our American legacy.
For, on this first full day that the Military Commissions Act is in force, we now face what our ancestors faced, at other times of exaggerated crisis and melodramatic fear-mongering:
A government more dangerous to our liberty, than is the enemy it claims to protect us from.
We have been here before — and we have been here before led here — by men better and wiser and nobler than George W. Bush.

Tonight the internet has given me:
- Bill Maher’s creative solutions to the war on terror
- some spam.
- a chance to loan $50 to someone who needs it.
- political analysis
- personal stories involving cats and food
- five minutes of bizarre japanese hidden-camera hi-jinx involving a button, a rocket-chair, a sauna, and a ski-slope.
- the latest Battlestar Galactica web-episode.
TV gave me - thirty minutes of Nytt på nytt and a mediocre TV movie with Mandy Patinkin.
Which of these two media has a future?

Nina Paley’s Sitayana
There are many possible responses to being dumped by a boyfriend.
Animating a three-thousand year old indian legend and setting the story to 1920s jazz and blues numbers is definitely one of the more creative responses.

Stephen Takes His Camera Everywhere
Even when paddling all the way from the southern tip to the northern tip of Norway, he dragged his digital camera and lenses along, all so that we could enjoy the scenic pictures. The amazing scenery of coastal norway as seen from a tiny kayak.

Morrisey - a danger to the state?
Morrisey was quizzed by FBI - apparently the Peoples Democractic Republic of America is not without a sense of irony.
Oh - go and see Why We Fight -informative but depressing viewing. Annoyingly factual, it cleverly gives its subjects plenty of rope rather than going the Michael Moore demagogue route.
