Phrasing

Fire! Burn!
Small fire erupted in the building next to ours at work - a carelessly discarded cigarette perhaps? Who knows. In any case, work stopped while we called the fire-dept and ogled the flames.
The wooden divider caught pretty quickly - in less than ten minutes it went from smoking to on fire.
The fire brigade finally showed up and put it out with a few splashes of water. The drove the big crane up anyway - just in case, you know?
